Fair play at the 2023 IIHF Ice Hockey World Championship

The 2023 IIHF Ice Hockey World Championship event will bring fair play to the Nokia Arena in Tampere as well as to home fans. The Finnish Center for Integrity in Sports (FINCIS) will introduce its activities on every preliminary round game day of the Finnish men’s national ice hockey team and inspire the spectators to encourage all players to perform well in the spirit of fair play.

FINCIS introduces clean sports and fair play in the Fan Zone in Tampere every preliminary round game day of the Finnish men’s national ice hockey team. At the information stand, the spectators can vote for a Fair Play player of the event. Voting will be carried out in co-operation with the International Ice Hockey Federation (IIHF). After the 2023 IIHF World Ice Hockey Championship, the fair play player in the Finnish team and a player from the other teams with the most votes will be rewarded. All of those who voted will take part in a draw, where the prizes will be the International Ice Hockey Federation’s green fair play jersey with the autographs of the players and other IIHF prizes.

At the information stand, you will also be able to test your own skills. In the chain throwing competition, the best results of the day will be rewarded with the International Ice Hockey Federation’s green puck.

FINCIS challenges hockey fans in Tampere and at home to state what fair sport means for them. Why do you play fair? Share your own fair play encouragement on social media with the hashtag #Together4Integrity #ReilustiParas.

The FINCIS information stand will be open in the Fan Zone on the preliminary round game days, that is, on 12 May, 13 May, 15 May, 17 May, 19 May, 20 May and 23 May, on weekdays from 2 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. and on weekends from 11 a.m. to 8:30 p.m. The information stand is implemented in co-operation with Varala Sports Institute students. Come and experience the match atmosphere in the spirit of fair play!

The 2023 IIHF Ice Hockey World Championship will be held in Tampere, Finland, and Riga, Latvia, from 12 to 28 May 2023.
