The European Athletics U20 Championships promote the Finnish Center for Integrity in Sports challenge campaign for fair competition. The campaign has involved nearly 40 international sports events held in Finland since 2009.
As a fair competition event, the European Athletics U20 Championships will receive the challenge campaign symbol of fair competition and clean sports, the Golden Baton, at its opening ceremony on Wednesday 6 August. The Baton will be passed to Tampere by the World Orienteering Championships 2025, which were held in Kuopio in July. The baton will be accepted on behalf of the sport by Topi Parviainen, European U18 champion in javelin throw.
“I am happy to accept this message of fair sport. I believe that clean sport is every athlete’s right. Fair competition benefits everyone, so I invite the sports community to encourage us athletes to perform great”, says Topi Parviainen.
Fair play and clean sports are featured at the Championships. The FINCIS information stand holds activities for both athletes and spectators. Athletes can test their anti-doping knowledge in the World Anti-Doping Agency’s Play True quiz, which is available in various languages. The best athletes will take home a sports water bottle as a prize. Spectators can vote for the Fair Play athlete of the event at the information stand. The athlete with the most votes will be rewarded at the end of the championships.
Spectators can test their own skills at the information stand. The best results of the day in the Mölkky throwing game will be rewarded. Spectators can also pick up flag stickers at the FINCIS’ information stand to support their favourites.
The FINCIS information stand is open at Ratina Stadium from Thursday 7 August to Sunday 10 August from 9.30 am to 2 pm and from 4 pm to 9 pm. FINCIS implements the I Run Clean anti-doping program together with the European Athletics. The FINCIS information stand is being organised in collaboration with students from the Varala Sports Institute.
The European Athletics U20 Championships will be held at the Ratina Stadium in Tampere from 7 to 10 August. More information about the event: https://tampere2025.com/
