#IIHFWorlds to promote clean sport, fair play

Fans can vote on Fair Play player

The 2022 IIHF Ice Hockey World Championship in Tampere and Helsinki will showcase clean sports and fair play, both on the ice and behind the scenes. The Finnish Center for Integrity in Sports (FINCIS) will introduce an activation on every matchday of the Finnish men’s national ice hockey team, aimed at inspiring fans and encouraging players with the spirit of fair play.

FINCIS will host an information stand in the IIHF World Championship Fan Zone in Tampere. At the information stand, the spectators can vote for a Fair Play player each time the Finnish national team plays. Voting will be carried out in co-operation with the International Ice Hockey Federation (IIHF).

At the end of the World Championship, the player with the most votes will be recognized with a Fair Play award. Those who have voted for the Fair Play player will be entered to win an official Finland national team jersey signed by all the players.

In addition to this activation, FINCIS will also carry out anti-doping activities during the World Championship, in co-operation with Varala Sports Institute. The students of Varala will have a unique opportunity to learn anti-doping activities, arrange international events, when working at the FINCIS’ information stand and acting as anti-doping chaperones. At the same time studying the anti-doping activities of the event.

The fans will be able to pick up flag stickers at the FINCIS’ information stand to support their team – or collect the whole set in the spirit of fair play. You can also share your own fair play support on social media with the hashtag #ReilunPelinLätkä #FairPlayHockey. The fairest fan of the match week will also receive a surprise prize from IIHF and FINCIS.

At FINCIS’ information stand, you will also be able test your own skills. In the puck throwing competition, it will not be the length that is measured but the precision, and the best results of the day will be rewarded with the International Ice Hockey Federation’s Green Pucks signed by the players.

FINCIS’ information stand will be at Nokia Arena on the Finnish team’s matchdays: 13, 14, 16, 18, 20, 21 and 24 May from 2 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. on weekdays and from 11 a.m. to 8:30 p.m. at weekends. Come and experience the match atmosphere in the spirit of fair play!
