FINCIS engages in international anti-doping cooperation with regard to training and education activities as well. The Council of Europe’s Anti-Doping Convention, the UNESCO International Convention Against Doping and WADA’s World Anti-Doping Code specify certain educational obligations. The training and education activities involve active cooperation with other Nordic countries.
Nordic cooperation
FINCIS cooperates with other Nordic countries in matters related to anti-doping. In order to strengthen this cooperation, the Nordic countries appoint a country in charge of each working group in an annual meeting between representatives of the countries. FINCIS is currently in charge of the working group for educational matters.
Council of Europe
The Anti-Doping Convention of the Council of Europe (COE) is an international agreement that promotes the national and international harmonisation of anti-doping activities. The contracting parties must establish the preconditions for anti-doping activities in their respective countries. The convention obligates the parties to adopt legislative, financial, technical and educational measures. The realisation of the convention is monitored by assessing the contracting countries’ anti-doping systems.
FINCIS is actively involved in the annual meetings of the Council of Europe’s working group for education. A new education standard that entered into force on 1 January 2021, at the same time as the new World Anti-Doping Code, has been prepared in these meetings, for example.
