Anti-doping activities
Doping control is the first and only area of ethics in sports that has a generally accepted global code, adherence to which is controlled by the sports organisations themselves.
Doping control
FINCIS is in charge of national doping control procedures in Finland. Doping control aims to prevent the use of doping and detect anti-doping rule violations.
Athlete’s Therapeutic Use Exemption
Treatment of an athlete’s disease may require use of a prohibited substance or method. In this case, the athlete should apply for a Therapeutic Use Exemption. The Therapeutic Use Exemption procedure guarantees equality among athletes.
Prohibited Substances and Methods in Sports (KAMU)
The World Anti-Doping Agency WADA publishes an annual List of Prohibited Substances and Methods in Sports. Athletes themselves are always responsible for the substances they use, and the lack of awareness is not a valid excuse for an anti-doping rule violation.
Rules
Anti-doping work is based on global codes to which athletes and other parties in the field of sports are committed. Anti-doping rule violations and their consequences are defined in anti-doping codes.
Anti-doping programmes
The anti-doping programmes of sports organisations and institutions are a strong statement for cleaner sports. FINCIS supports the organisations and institutions in preparing and implementing the programmes.
Cooperation
We are all responsible for promoting sport ethics. Cooperation ensures that all sports stakeholders have a sports culture that is ethically sustainable.
