The IFAF Flag Football World Championship 2024 will continue the chain of fair play and clean sports messengers of more than 30 international championships held in Finland. The fair play and clean sports challenge campaign organised by the Finnish Center for Integrity in Sports FINCIS was launched already in 2008.
As a fair play event, the IFAF Flag Football World Championship 2024 will receive the symbol of the challenge campaign, the Golden Baton, at the opening ceremony on Monday 26 August. World’s best flag football players receive the baton from curling whose world junior championships were held in February 2024 in Kisakallio. The baton will be handed over by Lara Sajaniemi, who plays in the Finnish women’s team.
“The basis of all fair sports is that it should be fun for everyone. In addition, everyone should have the opportunity to strive for the best performance from their own starting points, says Lara Sajaniemi.
As part of the challenge campaign, FINCIS will share information on clean sports practices at the World Championships at its own information stand. Athletes and the audience can vote for the fair competition athlete of the Championships at the information stand. The athlete will receive an award.
At FINCIS’ stand, you can pick up a flag sticker of your favourite country and craft your own “I compete fair and clean” badge. Athletes can test their knowledge of anti-doping matters by answering a Quiz, and the best quizzers will take home a sports water bottle as a prize.
The FINCIS information stand is open in Pajulahti on Thursday between 10 am and 5 pm and in Lahti on Friday between 2 pm and 7 pm.
The IFAF Flag Football World Championship 2024 will be held in Pajulahti and in Lahti on 27–30 August. The event has a total of 32 men’s and 23 women’s teams and almost a thousand athletes from six continents. More information about the event: https://jenkkifutis.fi/flag2024/
