Skiing nation celebrates clean sport at the Lahti Ski Games

Continuing the time-tested tradition, the world’s best ski jumpers, cross-country skiers and combined athletes will meet once again from 2 to 4 March at the legendary Lahti Ski Games. The Lahti Ski Games will play a part in the message of clean sport, promoting equality between athletes. The top names in Finland, skier Aino-Kaisa Saarinen and ski jumper Anssi Koivuranta, challenge all athletes and team members at the Lahti Ski Games to join in playing a fair game.

The Lahti Ski Games at Lahti’s Ski Stadium are being organised for the 87th time. The programme includes eight world cup competitions and several other events.

– The Clean Win programme brings greetings of clean sport and fair play to the Lahti Ski Games. We encourage both Finnish and foreign competitors and spectators to take a stand on behalf of equitable play in sport,” says Susanna Sokka, Information Manager at the Finnish Antidoping Agency FINADA.

The Clean Win programme information desk will be on-site at the Lahti Ski Games on Saturday 3 March from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Sunday 4 March from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. At the information desk you can sign the grand petition on behalf of clean sport and test how well you recognise the brilliant sporting stars of the Clean Win programme. If you’re lucky, you can see skier Aino-Kaisa Saarinen, a sporting star of the Clean Win programme, when you visit the information desk.

The Clean Win programme was launched in May 2008. It honours clean athletes and the values of fair play. FINADA and Fazer wish to shine the spotlight on those athletes who perform ethically, respecting their sport, their competitors and themselves. This programme invites Finnish sports fans, sporting organisations, the friends and relatives of athletes and athletes themselves to get involved in fair play.
